The autonomous irrigation robot RainButler ensures higher crop yields and conserves resources
Today’s irrigation systems do not provide sufficient solutions for the increasing challenges in agriculture.
- Farmers must adhere to strict water quotas
- Hard to find staff for time-consuming irrigation
- Increasing energy costs are squeezing profits
- Dry periods are getting longer and longer – worldwide
To date, there is no autonomous irrigation system that is efficiently designed to cope with the increasing cost pressure in agricultural production and rapid climatic changes. Demand is growing worldwide.
This is changing with the RainButler.

How the RainButler works
The RainButler consists of a drum and an electric drive. It navigates using RTK-GPS and follows a pre-defined schedule. Once this has been created, the RainButler knows what to do and irrigates the area efficiently, reliably and safely.
The RainButler drives autonomously and can be started via smartphone or laptop. All you have to do is drive it to the area. It does the rest of the work.
Award winning product with strong partners

„Autonomous systems such as the RainButler can replace the sprinkler gun in the long term.“
Prof. Dr. Klaus Röttcher / Ostfalia Hochschule Suderburg

What makes irrigation so challenging?

Lutz Meyer, Lower Saxony
„We haven’t irrigated all the areas for a long time because there is no longer enough water. We can’t irrigate what doesn’t come from above. With an even supply, you can make better use of every cubic meter.“

Friedrich-Carl Bodin, Lower Saxony
„Hose reel sprinklers in combination with long throw impact sprinklers deliver a very different concentration of precipitation in windy conditions. With a machine that applies water close to the ground, significantly less of it is lost – especially when we are working in high temperatures.“

Justus Lange, Lower Saxony
Water, energy and labor:
Save three times over with the RainButler
25 %
Save at least 25% water immediately with the RainButler – with the same crop yield!
Your plants need water, but the pressure on groundwater resources is constantly increasing. With the RainButler, you can irrigate your plants in a particularly efficient and future-oriented way: Compared to a hose reel sprinkler, you save up to 25 percent water with the same crop yield.
40 %
Reduce the energy requirement in the overall system by up to 40 % with the RainButler!
Compared to the hose reel sprinkler, the RainButler requires significantly less water pressure. As a result, it irrigates particularly gently and saves energy: from the pump to the plant it is around 40 %! If you combine water and energy savings, you can save up to 80 euros per hectare per year.
80 %
Leave the watering to the RainButler and save up to
80 % working time!
Compared to a hose reel sprinkler, the RainButler reduces your working time by up to 80 %. It reliably irrigates the entire area in a single operation with just one set-up. Once it has started its work, it carries it out to the end – without any action on your part.
Farmers are struggling with these problems
Water shortage
Increasingly scarce water resources and a lack of precipitation are threatening the very existence of agriculture. Irrigation is unavoidable.
Failure of previous methods
Irrigation with a drum machine, for example, generates enormous losses, especially in hot weather. It is no longer justifiable.
Lack of skilled workers
Irrigation currently costs water, energy and enormous amounts of time. It is becoming increasingly difficult to manage the effort in terms of personnel.
What the RainButler can do better than any other irrigation system

Hose reel sprinkler
Currently No. 1 in Western and Southern Europe.
Advantages
- Cost-effective technology
- Flexible handling
- No field binding
Disadvantages
- High labour requirements
- High energy requirement
- Poor efficiency
Circular irrigation
Currently No. 1 in USA, Osteuropa
Advantedes
- Top water efficiency
- Low energy requirement
- Low labour requirement
Disadvantages
- Investment tied to space
- Large areas necessary
- Geometry as a challenge

Good for the plant
The RainButler irrigates your areas particularly gently and exactly where the plants need it: in the root area. This allows them to develop vigorously and healthily and ensures an excellent harvest yield.
Good for the environment
The RainButler supplies your plants with exactly as much water as necessary and as little as possible thanks to its rotating irrigation boom. This saves valuable resources – for you and for nature.
Good for the farmer
The RainButler takes over the important task of watering while you do something completely different. Convenient remote control saves you up to 80 percent of working time.
Field irrigation now works easy
Irrigate your surfaces at the touch of a button from your couch! The RainButler can be conveniently controlled with a smartphone or laptop very simply, very intuitively. So your plants and areas are well cared for even when you’re doing something completely different.
Sounds good? It is good! We’d love to tell you more!
